The IV Forum of Environment and Local World has been neutral in emissions

Món Sant Benet  of Sant Fruitós de Bages welcomed the 4th Forum of Environment and Local World, with the participation of 400 experts in the field of sustainability, from the 19th to the 20th of February.

Under the slogan “We connect cities and towns, in transition towards 2030” the Forum has brought together people from the public and private sector to discuss energy efficiency, adaptation to climate change, circular and green economy and local environmental governance, all in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

The celebration of the IV Forum of Environment and Local World has generated 13,42 tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e), due to the energy consumption of the facilities, the displacement of the 400 attendees and speakers, the catering service and communication materials produced.

The Provincial Council of Barcelona, with the intention of neutralizing the environmental impact of the IV Forum, gives the participants the opportunity to choose the project to offset the generated emissions. The selected project was the “Darica hydroelectric Project“, a project developed in Turkey, which is certified with the international Verified Carbon Standard. The project reduces carbon emissions due to the generation of hydroelectric energy replacing fossil fuels. The project not only has a positive impact on the environment, but also increases the electric power available in the area and improves its distribution, offers employment and builds roads to facilitate access to small towns in the area.

The IV Forum of Environment and Local World has obtained the Clean CO2 certificate, accrediting the emissions neutrality of the event, and the “Clean CO2 Certified” seal with a QR code, which allows access to this informative APP of the compensated emissions.
