The 55 RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada is carbon neutral

The RACC has calculated the greenhouse gas emissions of the last three editions of the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada. Most of the carbon footprint of this period comes from the emissions associated to the attendees travelling to the event. That was the reason why in 2018 a tool to calculate and offset their carbon footprint was made available to the public. This tool allowed attendees to prove their neutrality thanks to the Clean CO2 certificate.

Year after year, the RACC is implementing measures to reduce its environmental impact and carbon footprint, showing its environmental commitment. In the 2019 edition, the organization has gone one step further and has offset the GHG emissions that cannot be avoided, turning the rally into a neutral emissions event.

The 117 tonnes of CO2e emitted in the organization of the 55th RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada were offset by the project called “Madre de Dios Amazon REED Project”. This project is aimed at stablishing sustainable forest management practices in an area of the Amazon in Peru, in order to reduce deforestation and protect the habitat of 35 endangered species as well as to maintain indigenous communities that depend on the forest for their survival.

Once again, the RallyRACC has also made available to the attending public the same mechanism for voluntary offset their individual CO2 emissions through Clean CO2, in order to make the Rally 100% sustainable and CO2 neutral.
