“Grup Caixa d’Enginyers” remains neutral in emissions

“Grup Caixa d’Enginyers” is a carbon neutral organization for the second consecutive year. The organization offsets the CO2 emissions of all the companies included in the Group, reaffirming its commitment to the environment and the fight against climate change, to achieve a low-carbon society committed to sustainability.

This year, the organization has calculated and offset the emissions associated with the activity carried out during 2019 for the entire Group. These emissions have been offset by a collaboration agreement with the purchase of 1,138 carbon credits with the “La Ferme-Bambous solar power farm” project.

The aim of the project is the generation of clean energy from solar energy thanks to the installation of a photovoltaic park with a capacity of 15 MW located in Mauritius. The project produces renewable energy that is supplied to 35,000 people each year. The project is a pioneer in the island’s energy transition, as it is the first solar park installed in the Republic of Mauritius. The project reduces 21,000 tCO2 each year, since it avoids the consumption of coal to produce electrical energy on the island.

Additionally, the project values the town of Bambú, located in Mauritius, where resources are allocated to improve the roads along with the provision of drains and where some 15 permanent jobs are generated, among other benefits.

Finally, as a guarantee of the action carried out, “Grup Caixa d’Enginyers” has received the Clean CO2 certificate, accrediting the neutrality of the organization.
