The “Un Volt als Residus” Program offsets its emissions for the second consecutive year

The “Un Volt als Residus” program of the Consortium for the treatment of municipal solid waste from Maresme offsets again for CO2 emissions generated with Clean CO2.

The carbon footprint associated with the visits to the plant and the workshops energized by educators in the school has been calculated. In the calculation, the emissions related to the energy consumption of the assembly hall of the plant and the displacements of educators and school transport have been considered.

The carbon footprint compensation of the “Un Volt als Residus 2018-2019” program has been made through the purchase of 8.57 carbon credits from a wind energy project located in India.

The project is called Andra Pradesh Wind Power Project and generates an annual average of 8,462 MWh of renewable energy that is transported to the national network. It reduces the need to generate energy using fossil fuel-based thermal power plants, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the project has created job opportunities for local people during the construction phase and during its operation phase.

With this action, “Un Volt als Residus 2018-2019” program has obtained the Clean CO2 Certified Certificate and Seal, proving its neutrality.
